Europa Park!

Today I went to Europa Park with Adriana and her host dad, host brother and 2 of their family friends. It was a fun day, but I had to wake up so early to meet them. I also got lost after I got off the bus because I couldn’t remember the way to get there – but in my defence, I have only been there one time before and it was with Adriana and we were talking so I wasn’t really paying attention. She had told me last night that her host dad was really punctual, so I was beginning to get nervous because I knew I was going to be late to her house if I ever found my way there… I finally got ahold of her and she tried to give me directions to her house, but it wasn’t working very well. I was getting so frustrated and I was already tired which made matters that much worse.

Luckily though, I finally found my way and I met up with Adriana on the path. She said we had to run, but of course it was straight up hill…yayyyy, so much fun! When we finally got to her house, we got in the car right away and drove to a small gas station because we had to meet up with the family friend because she had forgotten to bring her son’s passports. After getting the passports, we were finally on our way!

When we drove into Germany, there was no one at the border (official or anything), so we were able to just drive on through. It was so weird because I am used to the Canadian-American border where everything is so strict and official. It was about another hour drive from the Switzerland-Germany border to the Europa Park, but I slept the whole way. When we got to the park, her host dad kept insisting that it was better than Disneyland and Disneyworld. It is a nice park, and is the biggest theme park in Europe, but it is definitely not bigger or better than Disney. It is bigger than Wonderland, but it does not compare to Disney – even if it has been a few years since I was there last.

The park was cool because it is split up into different areas and countries in Europe and the areas are designed to look like the country it represents. Greece was very "Greek looking" and had the Greek alphabet everywhere and the rides were called things like Pegasus. Switzerland, of course, had all of the cobblestone streets and the old wood buildings and most of the rides had to do with snow and bobsledding or the Alps.

I also bought a postcard of the park, 2 pins, a keychain for my blazer - which is so heavy now, it hurts to wear and I'm running out of room to put things! I always knew that Germany was cheaper than Switzerland, but I was floored at how cheap it actually was. It only cost me 10 Euros for everything! I was definitely impressed!

On the way home, we took a detour through France because there was a traffic jam in Germany. Umm, what?! Who has even heard of that?! Haha! It was so cool and now I can say that I was in 3 separate countries in one day! Man, how I love Europe…. J

Sorry Mom and Dad, but I'm not sure if I'm ever coming home...

I miss Autumn!

And to make things even better, at dinner tonight I had an actual intellectual conversation with my host mom IN GERMAN! The conversation was about anything and everything and lasted about 45 minutes. I couldn’t believe myself and I was beyond proud of how far I’ve come in just over 2 months!

Today has definitely been an amazing day! I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for me!

Much love from Switzerland (Germany and France!),
